Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by a progressive declince of lung function. Until now, the disease is most often irreversible and therapy aims at abating the symptoms and decelerate progression. The major risk factors for COPD are cigarette smoking and air pollution

Focus in ARCN:

Together with our partners in the DZL, we study inflammation markers as well as the transcriptome of sputum cells. In close collaboration with all four DZL sites, our scientists focus on the interaction between progression of COPD and a low physical activity of patients.
