For the first time after a two and a half year break due to the pandemic, DZL scientists met again in a large circle. The 10th DZL Annual Meeting in Hannover was bursting with excellent science, enthusiasm and cooperation.

More than 500 participants, more than 300 posters and nearly 100 two-minute short presentations: those are the bare numbers from the 10th DZL Annual Meeting, held in Hanover, July 5-7, 2022. But it was more than that. There was a sense that the DZL community was very happy to be able to come together again for the first time since 2020 in Travemünde for an Annual Meeting with personal exchange, stimulating science and the opportunity to initiate new collaborations.

A packed program over two and a half days

On the eve of the opening, the DZL Academy Reception took place, where young scientists met to network. The following day, working group meetings of the eight Disease Areas (DA), two platforms and three DA-overarching topics were on the agenda. The afternoon was dominated by poster sessions and a fireworks display of short presentations. At the evening event, DZL Chairman Prof. Werner Seeger looked back on 10 years of DZL history. He also awarded the prizes for the best posters of the DAs and platforms. The ARCN was also successful: The best prize in the field of asthma and allergies was awarded to Dr. Yves Laumonnier from Lübeck. The final day focused on the future concepts of the research areas. Looking ahead to the evaluation by our Scientific Advisory Board which will take place in November, the heads of DAs and platforms presented “Mission & Vision” for the years 2024-27.

DZL will meet for 11th Annual Meeting in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich in June 2023.
