Clinical Trials

Ongoing clinical trials at ARCN:

ALLIANCE (All Age Asthma Cohort) Register

The ALLIANCE Register is aiming for a better understanding of asthma, for better prediction of the course of the disease and for development of individualised treatment approaches.

ALLIANCE is a an observational study without influence on the current therapy of a patient.

We are recruiting two groups of patients:

  1. We’re seeking for patients aged 6 months to 18 years with established asthma or recurring obstructive bronchitis. The study is carried out by the Pediatric Clinic of the University Lübeck in collaboration with our partners from the Medical School Hannover and the Clinic of the Ludwig-Maximilians University at Munich. In case you are interested in participating, please contact Ms. Annegret Telsemeyer (telephone 0451/500-3951; e-mail annegret.telsemeyer(at)uksh.de).
  2. We’re seeking for adult patients older than 18 years as well as healthy study subjects. Particularly, we are interested in persons between 18 and 35 years as well as healthy subjects with BMI > 30. The study is carried out at LungenClinic Grosshansdorf and Research Center Borstel. Contact at LungenClinic Grosshansdorf is our Clinical Studies Center (telephone 04102/601-2454; E-Mail: studien(at)lungenclinic.de). Contact persons at Medical Clinic Borstel can be found here.

HANSE Trial

The HANSE Trial (Holistic implementation study Assessing a Northern German interdisciplinary lung cancer Screening Effort) investigates, if low-dose computer tomography is feasible for early detection of lung cancer. This will be studied in former or active smokers between 55 and 79 years. People interested in participation can register via the website of the study [in German]. Further information in this news article.

Evaluation of non-invasive pursed-lip breathing ventilation (PLBV) in advanced COPD

We are evaluating a new non-invasive ventilation technique for patients with advanced COPD.

The device to be tested simulates the so-called pursed-lip breathing technique, which is described as being helpful by a number of patients. It is a development of the coordinating center of the study, the Research Center Borstel.

We intend to treat 250 patients in 2017/18 in five German study centers.

In case you are interested in participating in this study, you may find further information and contact details on the homepage of this study (in German).

TRACK-CF study for patients with cystic fibrosis (CF)

In this observational study we are looking for patients who got their CF diagnosis in the first four months of their life (e.g by newborn screening). Study center is the Pediatric Clinic of the University Lübeck.

In case you are interested in participating, please contact Ms. Annegret Telsemeyer (telephone 0451/500-42995; e-mail annegret.telsemeyer(at)uksh.de).
